Stammering (Stuttering)
Repetitions, prolongations or blocks that interrupt the natural flow of speech.
Signs to look for
- Repeating sounds or syllables (b-b-ball)
- Stretching sounds (ssssun) or getting 'stuck' silently
- Visible tension, blinking or facial movements while speaking
- Avoiding words, situations or speaking altogether
- Frustration or embarrassment about talking
Seeing one sign doesn't confirm a condition — but if you notice several, or your instinct says something isn't right, book an assessment.
Many children go through a normal phase of disfluency between ages 2–5. But when stammering persists beyond six months, runs in the family, or causes visible struggle, professional assessment is strongly recommended.
Our therapists use age-appropriate, evidence-based fluency programs for children, teenagers and adults — building fluent speech and, equally important, the confidence to speak anywhere.
